5E Advanced Materials Passes Qualification in 20-Ton Boric Acid Trial for Major U.S. LCD Glass Manufacturer

FEAMFEAM

5E Advanced Materials completed a 20-ton boric acid commercial tank trial for a major U.S. LCD glass manufacturer in December, passing all qualification parameters. The successful trial paves the way for initial offtake negotiations, progressing 5E's commercialization of refined borates.

1. Commercial Tank Trial Success

5E Advanced Materials (FEAM) has completed a 20-ton boric acid tank trial for a leading U.S. LCD glass manufacturer, achieving full qualification across all key parameters, including optical clarity, particle size distribution and chemical purity. Conducted over a four-week period in December, the trial validated the material’s performance under continuous feed conditions, meeting the customer’s stringent defect rate threshold of fewer than 5 defects per million glass panels.

2. Pathway to Initial Offtake Agreement

With the trial results in hand, FEAM is now poised to negotiate an initial offtake agreement worth an estimated US$8–12 million in annual revenue. The company’s commercial team has commenced discussions on pricing, logistics and long-term supply commitments, targeting a binding letter of intent by Q2 2026. Integration into the customer’s supply chain would mark FEAM’s first large-scale commercial contract in the LCD glass segment and position the company as a preferred borate supplier.

3. Implications for FEAM’s Growth Strategy

This milestone supports FEAM’s goal of vertical integration across refined borates and advanced boron derivatives. The company plans to ramp up production capacity at its Hesperia, California facility from 5,000 to 15,000 metric tons per year by year-end, funded through a US$25 million equipment financing package secured in November 2025. Investors will be watching FEAM’s gross margin expansion, currently guided to improve by 400 basis points once the LCD glass contract commences.
