Abbott launches next-generation Oncodetect blood test to detect residual cancer
ABT•Abbott launched its next-generation Oncodetect blood test on Oct. 26, 2026, for patients with solid tumors. The test uses whole-genome sequencing, and colorectal cancer study results showed improved recurrence-risk detection compared with the first-generation test.
1. Test launch
Abbott launched the test for patients with solid tumors. It uses whole-genome sequencing to detect residual cancer during and after treatment and help inform recurrence-risk assessments. Modeling estimates more than 3 million U.S. patients could potentially benefit from MRD testing, and more than 20 Oncodetect studies are ongoing.
