AbbVie blood cancer drug combo cuts risk of progression or death in late-stage study
ABBV•A combination of epcoritamab and R-CHOP reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 51% in a late-stage study of newly diagnosed patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, AbbVie and Genmab said.
1. Study results
The trial tested epcoritamab with R-CHOP in patients newly diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, the most common form of blood cancer affecting lymph cells. The combination reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 51% compared with R-CHOP alone.
2. Treatment details
Epcoritamab, jointly developed by AbbVie and Genmab, is an immune-based therapy that helps T cells attack cancer cells. The companies said the combination’s safety profile was generally consistent with the known safety profiles of both treatments. Epcoritamab is not yet approved for patients newly diagnosed and not previously treated.
