AbbVie joins US government pilot to test drug discount rebates
ABBV•AbbVie will participate in a US government pilot beginning January 1, 2027, to test a rebate system for discounted medicines under the 340B program. The pilot will cover Imbruvica, Linzess and Vraylar.
1. Pilot details
Eligible healthcare providers will submit claims through the Beacon platform to obtain 340B pricing on AbbVie’s Imbruvica, Linzess and Vraylar. AbbVie said it will provide healthcare groups free access to the system, customer service and assistance for providers facing operational difficulties.
2. Program aims
AbbVie said the rebate test is intended to improve pricing transparency and prevent duplicate discounts as new Medicare-negotiated drug prices take effect. The company plans to work with federal health regulators and healthcare providers during the rollout. Amgen, AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Bristol Myers Squibb are also among companies approved for the pilot.
