Academy Sports and Outdoors to Open Three Q2 Stores, Add 200 Jobs
Academy Sports and Outdoors will open three new stores in Q2 2026 in Altoona, PA; North Knoxville, TN; and Morristown, TN, creating nearly 200 local jobs. These openings follow two Q1 launches and build on 24 new stores added in 2025 as part of its strategic nationwide expansion.
1. Q2 Store Openings
Academy Sports and Outdoors plans to open three new stores in Q2 2026, located in Altoona, Pennsylvania; North Knoxville, Tennessee; and Morristown, Tennessee. These additions follow two Q1 openings and extend the company's footprint in strategic regional markets.
2. Community Investments and Job Creation
Each new location will host grand opening events and receive $15,000 contributions to local nonprofits, supporting over 60 children through organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Boys & Girls Clubs. Combined, the three stores are projected to generate nearly 200 jobs across their host communities.
3. Continued Expansion and Customer Engagement
The Q2 store launches build on a recent run of growth that included 24 new outlets across 16 states in 2025 and 16 in 2024. Academy is further enhancing customer loyalty through the rollout of the myAcademy Rewards Mastercard credit card and an upgraded rewards program to drive repeat visits and spending.
