Academy to Expand Nike Running Doors to 150, Jordan Shops to 100

The retailer plans to expand Nike’s performance running doors to 150 this year and increase Jordan Brand shops by 55, reaching a total of 100 outlets.

Academy Sports posted a 3% increase in quarterly footwear sales, led by cleated baseball products and summer seasonal brands like Crocs and Birkenstock. The retailer also noted growing demand in the performance running category, with key contributions from platforms such as Nike Vomero.
2. Nike Performance Running Expansion
Academy’s CEO confirmed plans to double its performance running footprint by expanding Nike running doors to 150 locations by back-to-school, up from roughly 75 last year. The move is timed to leverage Nike’s innovation pipeline and capitalize on summer and early fall demand.
3. Jordan Brand Shop Growth
The retailer will add 55 Jordan Brand shops in Q2, raising its total to 100 outlets to capture summer selling momentum driven by the World Cup and America’s 250th birthday. This rollout aims to further strengthen Academy’s athletic apparel and footwear assortment.
