Adapti says big-ticket agency deals widen opening for mid-tier sports representation firms
ADTI•Adapti said rising institutional investment in sports representation, including agency deals valued at about $1 billion to $7 billion, could create opportunities for mid-tier firms.
1. Investment shifts industry
Adapti’s industry note cited Goldman Sachs taking a majority stake in Excel Sports Management at an approximately $1 billion valuation, Artémis buying a majority stake in Creative Artists Agency at an approximately $7 billion valuation, and Providence Equity Partners agreeing to consolidate ownership of Wasserman, now The·Team, at a reported approximately $3.4 billion valuation. The analysis said sports representation is shifting from agent-led boutiques toward institutional platforms with recurring commercial relationships, broader services, intellectual property and global networks.
2. Opening for mid-tier firms
The note said mid-tier agencies could benefit through specialization, faster decision-making, personalized service and technology investment, as well as selective acquisitions and agent recruitment. It also cited eventual liquidity options.
