Aeluma Secures NASA Award to Fund Integrated Quantum Dot Laser Commercialization
Aeluma received a non-dilutive NASA award to advance its integrated quantum dot laser platform for data communication and sensing applications. The funding will accelerate commercialization of on-chip quantum dot lasers via large-diameter wafer integration, targeting AI infrastructure, consumer sensing, defense, aerospace and quantum markets.
1. NASA Award Secured
Aeluma received a non-dilutive funding award from NASA to support its integrated quantum dot laser platform development for data communication and sensing. This award provides capital to accelerate pilot production, validation and strengthen relationships with NASA and key manufacturing partners.
2. On-Chip Quantum Dot Laser Technology
The company’s large-diameter wafer heterogeneous integration platform embeds quantum dot lasers directly on silicon, overcoming fundamental limitations of on-chip optical gain. This approach preserves the cost, scale and integration advantages of CMOS manufacturing while enabling high power handling and low-noise performance.
3. Market Applications and Commercialization
Quantum dot lasers under development target high-growth segments including AI data center interconnects, consumer sensing, defense and aerospace systems, and quantum computing. The NASA award accelerates Aeluma’s path to commercial production and partnerships in these strategic markets.
