NASA awards AeroVironment SkyFall helicopter contract
AeroVironment won a contract to co-design and co-manufacture three autonomous Mars helicopters for NASA’s SkyFall mission.
Work runs through design and production of major aircraft elements; NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory will lead power systems, software and electronics.
The mission targets a planned launch in late 2028, using a “SkyFall” release approach to avoid a dedicated lander stage.
