AI adoption stalls as companies struggle to scale projects despite strong returns, study shows
QQQ•Only 13% of companies were on track with AI initiatives, while nearly three-quarters reported positive financial results, a BearingPoint study found. Less than a third had moved beyond pilot projects.
1. Scaling remains difficult
Companies cited legal regulations and integration with existing IT systems as their main barriers to scaling AI, at 40% and 34%, respectively. About 24% reported AI-driven cost savings of at least 10%, while 4% reported revenue growth of that scale. Comprehensive implementation was reported by 20% of companies in China, 18% in the US and 8% in Germany; the share with AI deeply integrated into operations rose to 11% in 2026 from 7% in 2025.
