AI chipmakers stand to benefit from rising AI adoption, analyst says
SMH•DA Davidson technology research head Gil Luria said cloud providers and chipmakers could benefit from rising AI usage if customers keep increasing spending. Anthropic’s anticipated IPO would be “very speculative,” he said, as its third-quarter revenue reached nearly $17 billion and growth slowed from the second quarter.
1. AI spending outlook
Gil Luria, technology research head at DA Davidson, said cloud providers and chipmakers could benefit from rising AI usage if customers continue increasing spending. He called Anthropic’s anticipated IPO a “very speculative investment.”
2. Revenue and IPO risks
Anthropic’s third-quarter revenue reached nearly $17 billion, but growth slowed from the second quarter as OpenAI gained ground amid adoption of open-weight models. Luria said a weak IPO debut could temporarily unsettle AI investments, while a “reasonably successful” debut would limit pressure on the sector. He also said infrastructure suppliers could face pressure if spending outpaces revenue generated by AI applications.
