AI workloads drive growing OCP server adoption, Evernex says
XLK•Adoption of Open Compute Project servers is growing as AI workloads increase data center power consumption and cooling demands. Open designs can help lower capital costs and improve energy efficiency, but support and spare-parts constraints can complicate maintenance.
1. Adoption and trade-offs
Colocation operators and enterprises are adopting Open Compute Project hardware selectively, often alongside conventional equipment, to meet performance requirements and lower total ownership costs. Fragmented support, spare-parts constraints and internal skills gaps can increase maintenance complexity, prolong downtime and raise support costs.
