U.S. Renal Care presented results from the 2,116-patient VOICE trial, which found vadadustat reduced hospitalizations by 10% versus erythropoiesis-stimulating agents, with no significant difference in mortality. Vadadustat recipients also had fewer serious adverse events, more stable hemoglobin control and less need for rescue treatment. The trial tested three-times-weekly dosing; Vafseo, the marketed form of vadadustat, is FDA-approved for once-daily use in eligible adults receiving dialysis.
