Alaska Air Group plans for Alaska Airlines to join American Airlines’ Atlantic and Pacific joint businesses. The carriers expect to seek U.S. Department of Transportation approval, antitrust immunity and other international regulatory clearances in coming months. The move builds on Alaska’s existing partnership with American and oneworld carriers across transatlantic and transpacific routes; the Atlantic joint business includes American and IAG airlines, while the Pacific joint business includes American and Japan Airlines.
