Alibaba’s Ant Group Pilots Alipay AI Agent, Backs Coalition Against $23B Wildlife Trade
BABA•Alibaba’s fintech affiliate Ant Group is piloting an AI assistant within Alipay to enable services like ride-booking and food ordering via chat. Alibaba has joined a coalition of tech and crypto firms representing one-fifth of global e-commerce to eliminate illegal wildlife trade listings through AI detection.
1. Ant Group Launches AI Pilot in Alipay
Alibaba’s fintech affiliate Ant Group has begun limited testing of an AI assistant within the Alipay app, enabling users to book car rides and order takeout via text or voice commands. The pilot leverages large language models to streamline transactions and could boost user engagement and in-app spending if expanded to a wider audience.
2. Alibaba Joins Coalition to Combat Wildlife Trafficking
Alibaba has committed alongside firms like Google, Meta, TikTok and leading crypto and payment companies—representing one-fifth of global e-commerce and 90% of social media users—to eradicate illegal wildlife trade listings. The initiative plans to deploy AI-enabled detection tools and enhanced monitoring protocols to disrupt a market estimated at $23 billion annually.
