Aligos reports reduced inflammatory cytokines in hepatitis B study of pevifoscorvir sodium
ALGS•Aligos said pevifoscorvir sodium reduced inflammatory markers in a hepatitis B follow-up study, with levels rising during subsequent entecavir-only treatment.
1. Hepatitis B findings
Aligos Therapeutics will present hepatitis research findings at The Liver Meeting in Denver from November 5-9, 2026. In a clinical follow-up study, pevifoscorvir sodium reduced inflammatory markers, which rose during subsequent entecavir-only treatment. Preclinical findings suggested the drug could better prevent hepatitis B viral DNA integration than nucleos(t)ide analogs.
2. Other research updates
Aligos said ALG-170675 outperformed bepirovirsen in reducing hepatitis B surface antigen in mice; the candidate is in Phase 1 testing in China with Amoytop. Laboratory studies found that experimental antisense treatment ALG-215007 strongly inhibited hepatitis delta virus replication.
