Alonso staying at Aston Martin for 2027 in unchanged line-up
AMZN•Fernando Alonso will remain with Aston Martin for at least another season, with Lance Stroll alongside him in 2027. The team has scored three points in 15 rounds this season and is 10th of 11.
1. Alonso extends stay
Twice Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso will continue with Aston Martin for at least another season after the team announced its unchanged 2027 line-up. The extension means Alonso, the sport’s oldest active driver, will race past his 46th birthday next July. Lance Stroll will partner him for a fifth successive season.
2. Team’s current season
Alonso said racing remains his passion and that he believes in what Aston Martin is building. The Spaniard joined the team in 2023 and has taken eight podiums and two second-place finishes with it. Aston Martin has scored three points in 15 rounds this season, all from Alonso, and stands 10th of 11.
3. Long-term ambitions
Alonso had considered his future and other possible challenges, including the Dakar Rally and another attempt at the Indianapolis 500. Team owner Lawrence Stroll said the team has the experienced drivers it needs for its long-term objectives, while its short-term focus remains on improving performance.
