Alphabet’s Google UK joins Operation Blue Skies to cut aviation contrail warming with AI
Program funding and aims
The program is co-funded by industry partners and supported by UK Department for Transport funding via the ATI Programme.
Government grant funding is allocated to academic, non-profit and aviation partners, with the aim of building UK contrail forecasting and verification capabilities.
The project targets operationally practical contrail avoidance, positioned as a cost-effective lever to cut aviation climate impact.
