Alterity says ATH434 50 mg slows functional decline about 52% vs placebo in Phase 2 analysis
ATHE•Alterity said adjusted Phase 2 results showed ATH434 50 mg slowed functional decline by about 52% versus placebo over one year in multiple system atrophy. The company also said baseline CSF neurofilament light chain may help predict progression, although the study missed its primary imaging endpoint.
1. Phase 2 analyses
Alterity presented new analyses of ATH434 in multiple system atrophy at the 2026 MDS Congress. Adjusted results showed the 50 mg dose slowed functional decline by about 52% versus placebo over one year.
2. Progression and imaging
Baseline CSF neurofilament light chain emerged as a predictor of progression, which the company said could help sharpen outcomes in a Phase 3 trial. Imaging analyses were broadly consistent with ATH434’s iron-chaperone approach, despite the study missing its primary imaging endpoint.
