Vanguard Enables Proxy Voting via Amazon Alexa for $3 Trillion Assets
Vanguard index fund investors can now cast proxy votes via Amazon Alexa through a new Investor Choice integration covering $3 trillion of assets. The voice-activated interface will expand to more than $6 trillion of U.S. equity index funds by year-end 2027.
1. Voice-Activated Proxy Voting Launch
Vanguard has integrated its Investor Choice program with Amazon Alexa, enabling users to command Alexa to access the proxy voting interface and receive a voting link via their Alexa-enabled device. Investors can ask for program details or request a direct link to sign up, streamlining the voting process.
2. Program Scale and Expansion
At launch, the Alexa integration covers more than $3 trillion in U.S. equity index fund assets under management. Vanguard plans to extend voice-activated voting to all U.S. equity index funds by the end of next year, bringing total coverage to over $6 trillion.
3. Policy Options Overview
Investors choose from five predefined voting policies: follow company management recommendations, follow Vanguard fund policy, abstain, or select third-party recommendations based on environmental, social and governance criteria or strictly financially material considerations. These options apply across thousands of proxy items for simplified decision-making.
