Amazon Commits $12B to Louisiana Data Centers, Creates 2,250 Jobs
Amazon announced a $12 billion investment to build AWS cloud data centers in northwest Louisiana’s Caddo and Bossier Parishes. The project will create 540 full-time positions, support 1,710 additional full-time equivalent roles, and Amazon will fund all new energy infrastructure and grid upgrades through a partnership with SWEPCO.
1. Investment Details
Amazon’s $12 billion pledge targets the construction of multiple AWS cloud data centers across Caddo and Bossier Parishes in northwest Louisiana. The facilities are designed to expand capacity for cloud computing, AI workloads and enterprise services within the AWS network.
2. Job Creation Forecast
The data center campus is expected to generate 540 direct full-time positions such as electricians, HVAC technicians and network specialists, while supporting 1,710 additional full-time equivalent roles in construction, operations and security.
3. Energy Infrastructure Financing
Amazon has committed to fully finance all new electricity distribution and transmission upgrades required by Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO). This collaboration will enhance regional grid reliability and support long-term power capacity for the data center campus.
