AMZN•Amazon will expand Amazon Now in India from 500+ micro-fulfillment centers across 15 cities to over 1,000 centers in 100 cities, intensifying competition with Flipkart and Blinkit. U.S. Prime Day spending is projected to top $26 billion, up 9% year-over-year, boosted by heavy discounts and AI shopping tools.
Amazon Now currently operates over 500 micro-fulfillment centers in 15 Indian cities and plans to scale that network to more than 1,000 centers across 100 cities. This buildout targets faster delivery beyond groceries into apparel, electronics and home products, directly challenging Flipkart’s 1,000-hub Minutes service and Blinkit’s 2,243 centers.
U.S. Prime Day spending is forecast to exceed $26 billion over four days, marking a 9% increase from last year and outpacing Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined. Heavy discounts on electronics, home goods and gift cards, coupled with AI-powered shopping tools, are driving higher order volumes and customer engagement.
