Amazon Launches Supply Chain Service Challenging FedEx, UPS with 7-Day Delivery

AMZNAMZN

Amazon launched Amazon Supply Chain Services, its new logistics offering, to allow any business to use its shipping network, including ocean freight, warehousing and 7-day delivery. Procter & Gamble, 3M, Lands' End and American Eagle have signed up, while FedEx shares fell 9% and UPS 10%, Amazon rose 1%.

1. Launch of Amazon Supply Chain Services

Amazon introduced Amazon Supply Chain Services (ASCS) to open its shipping and delivery network to any business, extending beyond its marketplace sellers. The new offering covers end-to-end logistics, from ocean freight and customs clearance to warehousing and last-mile delivery seven days a week.

2. Service Offerings and Infrastructure

ASCS leverages Amazon’s existing fulfillment centers, transportation fleet and global shipping contracts to manage inventory storage, cross-border shipments and final-mile delivery. Companies can integrate via API or a web portal and choose customized solutions for volume, speed and route optimization.

3. Early Adopter Customers

Major corporations including Procter & Gamble, 3M, Lands' End and American Eagle have signed up for ASCS ahead of its public launch. These partners will deploy Amazon’s network for seasonal inventory shifts, direct-to-consumer campaigns and peak holiday fulfillment.

4. Competitor Impact and Market Reaction

Shares of UPS and FedEx declined by 10% and 9% respectively on the announcement, reflecting investor concern over margin pressure and lost volume. Amazon’s stock ticked up around 1%, signaling confidence in the new service’s long-term revenue potential.
