Amazon plans €15bn France investment, four centres, 7,000 jobs
Amazon will invest more than €15bn in France from 2026 to 2028, funding logistics infrastructure, cloud computing AI development and opening four new distribution centres. The plan is set to create over 7,000 permanent jobs, speed same-day deliveries, cut average package travel distances 25% and cut CO₂ emissions per parcel.
1. Scope of Investment
Amazon will allocate over €15bn between 2026 and 2028 in France, covering logistics infrastructure, cloud computing, AI development budgets and routine operating costs.
2. Distribution Centre Expansion
Four new centres will launch in Illiers-Combray, Beauvais, Colombier-Saugnieu and Ensisheim between 2026 and late 2027, extending Amazon’s local network and hiring thousands.
3. Employment and Economic Impact
The strategy is projected to generate more than 7,000 permanent positions; the Augny site benchmarked 4,000 jobs in its first year and delivered €2.5m in local taxes in 2023.
4. Sustainability and Delivery Performance
Amazon fulfilled over 170 million same-day or next-day orders in France during 2025, reduced average package travel distances by 25% at Augny and cut CO₂ emissions by 81g per parcel, with two-thirds of deliveries in 20 cities via electric vehicles, cargo bikes or on foot.
