AMCAMC

AMC Theatres and CJ 4DPLEX have opened four premium format auditoriums—SCREENX at AMC Burbank 16 and Town Square 18, and 4DX at Gulf Pointe 30 in Houston and Barrywoods 24 in Kansas City. The new SCREENX auditoriums use upgraded 3-chip projection for 270-degree displays, while 4DX adds motion seats and environmental effects.

1. Launch of First Four Premium Auditoriums

AMC Theatres and CJ 4DPLEX have completed four premium format installations at AMC Burbank 16 and AMC Town Square 18 for SCREENX, and at AMC Gulf Pointe 30 and Barrywoods 24 for 4DX, marking the initial rollout of immersive formats across key U.S. markets.

2. Enhanced SCREENX Technology

The debut SCREENX auditoriums feature a fully redesigned show control platform, upgraded 3-chip cinema-quality projectors and 270-degree panoramic side-wall displays, delivering improved brightness, color accuracy and presentation stability.

3. 4DX Immersive Features

The 4DX auditoriums synchronize motion-enabled seats with 21 environmental effects—wind, scent, water, vibration and lighting—offering multisensory immersion that aligns seat movement and theater effects with on-screen action.

4. Strategic Impact on AMC’s Offering

These installations underscore AMC’s focus on premium large-format experiences to differentiate theater visits from home viewing, targeting higher per-attendee spending and setting the stage for further expansion of SCREENX and 4DX venues.
