Amcor Unveils Recyclable PE Fertiliser Film with 35% Recycled Content

Amcor and Belgian firm DCM have launched a recyclable mono-material PE film for fertilisers featuring 35% post-consumer recycled content across 650g–7kg packs, replacing multi-material structures. Amcor also completed the global rollout of 3D printing at its five rigid packaging centres to boost innovation capacity.

1. DCM Partnership Launches Recyclable Film

Amcor has teamed up with Belgian fertiliser producer DCM to introduce a mono-material polyethylene film that is fully recyclable in existing waste streams, replacing DCM's previous multi-material packaging.

2. Packaging Innovation and Specifications

The new film contains 35% post-consumer recycled content and is available in sizes ranging from 650g to 7kg, offering gas and moisture resistance with a rigid structure and glossy finish for improved shelf presence.

3. Sustainability and Regulatory Readiness

This packaging innovation aligns with circular economy goals and helps customers prepare for upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation requirements by ensuring material recyclability and environmental compliance.

4. Global 3D Printing Capability Expansion

Amcor finalised the installation of 3D printing systems at its Barcelona innovation centre, completing the rollout across all five global rigid packaging centres in Spain, Switzerland, the US and China to accelerate prototyping and product development.
