AMD Powers GSMA’s Open Telco AI and Debuts Unified Open RAN AI-RAN Platform
GSMA launched Open Telco AI to accelerate telco-grade AI by pooling open telco models from AT&T, datasets and AMD-powered compute via a dedicated portal, with progress tracked through a seven-benchmark Telco Capability Index. AMD also partnered with Wind River to provide the industry's first unified Open RAN and AI-RAN platform on shared hardware.
1. GSMA Launches Open Telco AI
GSMA launched Open Telco AI to accelerate telco-grade AI by pooling open telco models from AT&T, datasets and AMD-powered compute via a dedicated portal, with progress tracked through a seven-benchmark Telco Capability Index. Industry and academic partners collaborate on model development, evaluation and data pipelines.
2. AMD Contributes GPU Compute
AMD is providing GPU platforms and cloud partner TensorWave resources for model training, fine-tuning, inference and evaluation, enabling hardware-agnostic development of telco-grade AI across core and edge networks. The open toolchain supports projects of varying sizes and compute budgets.
3. AMD and Wind River Unite RAN Platforms
AMD teamed with Wind River to deliver the industry's first unified Open RAN and AI-RAN platform on shared hardware, integrating radio access network functions with AI workloads. The solution addresses operators' need to consolidate separate systems, aiming to boost network automation and reduce operational complexity.
