AMD Shares Climb 5% on EPYC Venice Ramp as $20B Nvidia CPU Threat Looms
AMD•AMD’s EPYC Venice server processors entered volume production on TSMC’s 2-nanometer process, prompting a 5% share jump to a record high on expectations of accelerated AI infrastructure deployments. Nvidia’s next-gen Vera CPU targets a $200 billion server market with projected $20 billion revenues by 2027, intensifying competition in data-center CPUs.
1. EPYC Venice Enters Volume Production
Advanced Micro Devices has commenced volume production of its EPYC Venice server processors at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing’s 2-nanometer facility, marking its first mass-produced 2nm chips. The ramp contributed to a 5% stock surge and record-high share levels as enterprise customers prepare to upgrade AI and agentic workloads with faster CPU performance.
2. Nvidia’s Vera CPU Challenges x86 Dominance
Nvidia is set to introduce its next-generation Vera CPU into the standalone server market, aiming to capture $20 billion in revenue by 2027 from a $200 billion total addressable market. By leveraging Arm-based architecture, Nvidia’s entry threatens AMD’s and Intel’s x86-based data-center CPU revenue as hyperscale operators seek more cost-efficient solutions.
