Ameren Illinois reports 18,000 customers without power after storms hit Bloomington-Normal area

AEE•Bloomington-Normal accounted for nearly all remaining outages, with about 15,000 customers affected amid significant infrastructure damage.
Damage included downed subtransmission poles, distribution poles, and transmission structures; restoration timelines for Bloomington-Normal were still being assessed.
More than 650 personnel were deployed, including line and forestry contractors, with additional crews en route to support restoration.
Ameren Illinois faced widespread power outages following severe storms with winds up to 70 mph across its service territory on Aug. 13.
Outages peaked near 26,000 customers around 2:45 p.m.; about 18,000 remained without power as of 10 a.m. Friday.
