American Water Allocates $246M Indiana Upgrade, $1.4M Kentucky Project and $2.2M NJ Grants

American Water's Indiana unit invested $246 million in 2025 to upgrade water mains and boost system reliability. Kentucky American Water is replacing 3,300 feet of 2- to 8-inch mains with new ductile iron lines in a $1.4 million upgrade; its New Jersey unit contributed over $2.2 million in community grants.

1. Indiana Infrastructure Investment

American Water's Indiana unit committed $246 million in 2025 to replace aging water mains across its service territory. The capital infusion targets improved water quality, reduced service interruptions and enhanced system capacity to meet growing customer demand.

2. Kentucky Mains Replacement Project

Kentucky American Water is investing $1.4 million to replace approximately 3,300 feet of 2- to 8-inch cast iron mains with new ductile iron piping in the Lisa Drive area of Lexington. The upgrade is designed to maintain reliable water delivery, improve fire protection and minimize future maintenance costs.

3. New Jersey Community Grants

New Jersey American Water and the American Water Charitable Foundation provided over $2.2 million in 2025 to support local organizations. This funding included grants for fire and public safety ($78,000), environmental projects ($75,500), health and wellness ($47,000), education ($38,000), community sustainability ($277,900) and a $950,000 Neighborhood Tax Revitalization Credit, plus $235,000 for customer assistance.
