American Water said its rate base is projected at $24.6 billion in 2025, rising to $24.3 billion in 2030E and $24.6 billion in 2035E, implying about 8-9% CAGR.
Climate targets include a 50% cut in absolute scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035 from a 2020 baseline, with net zero by 2050.
Operational goals include a 10% increase in Utility Resilience Index by 2030 from a 2020 baseline, marked as achieved.
Sustainability strategy and investment plan
American Water outlined a sustainability strategy built on financial, operational, and cultural priorities tied to regulated water and wastewater utility operations.
The company said its long-term plan targets $42-43 billion of system investment over 10 years, with spending weighted to infrastructure renewal, water quality, and resiliency.
