Shares of drugmaker Amgen rose 2.4% to $402.69 after the company said its experimental drug, dazodalibep, for Sjogren's disease met the main goal of reducing disease activity in a late-stage trial.
Sjogren's disease is an autoimmune disorder that causes dryness of the eyes, mouth and other parts of the body, along with fatigue and chronic pain.
The drug showed a statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement at week 48, and most side effects were mild to moderate.
The company plans to present detailed results at an upcoming medical meeting.
Including the session's move, AMGN is up 23.1% year to date.
