Amprius wins up to USD 75 million U.S. DoW grant for domestic high-energy drone battery production
AMPX•Amprius won up to USD 75 million from the U.S. Department of War to convert a domestic EV battery line to drone-cell production, targeting 12 million cells annually by early 2028.
1. Production line conversion
The grant will fund a retrofit of a U.S.-based production line operated by a major South Korean manufacturer. The project targets completion in early 2028 and planned annual capacity of 12 million cells for NDAA-compliant unmanned aerial systems. The conversion budget is about USD 100 million, including in-kind investment from Amprius and its South Korean partner.
