AMTD Expands Hospitality with US$72M Ritz-Carlton Perth Stake and US$38M Malaysia Hotel
AMTD•AMTD’s TGE subsidiary closed a US$72 million purchase of 50% interests in The Ritz-Carlton, Perth, valued at US$201 million (A$280 million). It also acquired the Upper View Regalia Hotel in Kuala Lumpur for US$38 million, adding 334 rooms to its hospitality portfolio, which now approaches 1,000 rooms.
1. Acquisition of Ritz-Carlton, Perth
AMTD’s TGE subsidiary acquired a 50% interest in The Ritz-Carlton, Perth, for US$72 million, reflecting a total property valuation of US$201 million (A$280 million). The 205-room waterfront hotel at Elizabeth Quay offers unobstructed Swan River and city skyline views through floor-to-ceiling windows, underpinning its long-term appreciation potential.
2. Acquisition of Upper View Regalia Hotel
AMTD completed a US$38 million purchase of super majority interests in the 129-room Upper View Regalia Hotel in Kuala Lumpur’s main commercial district. The property features a rooftop infinity pool, 80 parking bays and is slated for comprehensive renovation and AMTD rooftop signage installation before joining the branded portfolio.
3. Portfolio Expansion and Strategic Rationale
With these transactions, AMTD’s TGE hospitality portfolio now nears 1,000 rooms, reinforcing its expanding footprint in premium assets. The acquisitions deepen AMTD’s presence in strategically important markets—Australia and Malaysia—leveraging its founding ties with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and catering to high-growth regional hospitality demand.
