Aon names Phillip Esser CEO of Reinsurance Solutions Germany, sets Board of Reinsurance

A Board of Reinsurance for Germany will be formed, including Esser, Wahl, Tomas Novotny, Alexander Partmann, Arno Achterberg and others.
Jan-Oliver Thofern will retire Jan. 1, 2027; he will serve as advisor to Esser through 2026.

Phillip Esser was named CEO of Reinsurance Solutions in Germany, based in Hamburg; he brings extensive reinsurance experience.
Volker Wahl was appointed executive chairman for the unit; he has 36 years’ reinsurance experience, including nearly 25 years at Aon.
