Apple, Broadcom Sign $30bn US Chip Pact to Make 15B Chips, Fund $1.5bn Plant
AAPL•Apple has signed an agreement with Broadcom worth over $30bn to design and produce silicon and wireless components, with production of more than 15 billion chips in the US, creating hundreds of US jobs. Broadcom will invest $1.5bn to expand its Fort Collins, Colorado factory to produce advanced RF components.
1. Apple and Broadcom Agreement
Apple has entered a multiyear pact with Broadcom valued at over $30bn. The deal covers the design and production of custom silicon and wireless connectivity components for Apple devices, with an expected output exceeding 15 billion chips manufactured in the United States.
2. Fort Collins Facility Upgrade
Broadcom will invest $1.5bn in its Fort Collins, Colorado factory to expand and modernize production lines. The upgraded plant will produce advanced radio frequency components, including film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) filters, and support hundreds of American manufacturing jobs.
3. U.S. Manufacturing Strategy
This agreement represents the largest single commitment in Apple's American Manufacturing Program, which aims to bolster domestic chip production and supply chain resilience. Apple plans to invest $600bn in the U.S. over four years, partnering with multiple suppliers to accelerate onshore manufacturing of essential components.
