Apple Limits iPhone 18 Price Hike to $50, Raises Mac and iPad Costs
AAPL•J.P. Morgan sees Apple limiting iPhone 18 price hikes to about $50, offsetting a $100 memory-cost headwind with $55 in component savings and integration. Apple has raised MacBook Neo to $699 (from $599), iPad Pro to $1,199 (from $999) and iPad Air to $749 (from $599), stoking potential demand risks.
1. iPhone 18 Pricing Outlook
J.P. Morgan projects Apple will cap the iPhone 18 price increase at about $50 instead of the feared $200-plus. Analysts estimate a $100 memory-cost headwind could be offset by approximately $40 in component savings and $15 from vertical integration.
2. Product Line Price Adjustments
Apple has raised pricing on several major devices, including increasing the MacBook Neo’s entry price to $699 from $599, iPad Pro to $1,199 from $999 and iPad Air to $749 from $599. Other products such as MacBook Pro, HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV and Vision Pro also saw price hikes ranging from $30 to $200.
3. Margin Protection and Demand Implications
The combined strategy of modest iPhone increases and cost offsets is aimed at protecting gross margins without deterring consumers. However, intra-cycle price hikes are unusual for Apple and could introduce demand friction, making the fall iPhone launch and future product cycles key for testing consumer resilience.
