Apple Readies $2,000 Foldable iPhone with iPad-Mini Screen and Touch ID
Apple plans to launch a foldable iPhone this fall with a roughly iPad-mini-sized internal display, an external screen and an estimated $2,000 premium price. It will run iOS with side-by-side multitasking, a new sidebar interface, reduced screen crease, hole-punch front camera and side-button Touch ID.

Apple is preparing to enter the foldable smartphone market with an upcoming iPhone featuring a foldable internal display roughly the size of an iPad mini, complemented by an external screen similar to current small iPhones. The device is slated for a fall launch and is expected to carry a premium price tag of around $2,000, positioning it at the top of Apple’s smartphone lineup.
2. Software Enhancements
The new foldable iPhone will continue running iOS but introduce iPad-style layouts and side-by-side app multitasking via a redesigned sidebar interface. This update aims to enable developers to adapt existing iPhone apps to wider display proportions and offer users an enhanced productivity experience on the larger internal screen.
3. Durability and Design
During development, Apple prioritized reducing the visible crease in the foldable display and improving hinge durability to withstand repeated opening and closing cycles. The external screen will adopt a hole-punch cutout for the front camera, and Face ID components will be replaced by side-button Touch ID to fit the device’s thinner foldable structure.
