Apple reportedly cuts iPhone 18 Pro orders due to soft demand
AAPL•Apple reportedly told some suppliers to cut component production for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, with October orders at least 15% below original requests. The reported cuts come as memory chip costs rise and the new models start at $1,199 and $1,299.
1. Reported supplier cuts
Apple reportedly told some suppliers to cut production of components for its newly launched iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, as memory chip costs and higher prices dampened consumer demand. October component orders were reportedly cut by at least 15% from the original requests, with Apple becoming more conservative on shipments since early September.
2. Pricing and demand
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 and the Pro Max at $1,299, each $100 above the starting price of its predecessor. Demand for devices was reported to have softened from late August into October, though a change to Apple's iPhone launch schedule could also be related. Apple raised iPad and MacBook prices in June, citing higher memory and storage chip costs.
