Apple aims to launch first smart glasses, code-named N50, in late 2027 after pushing back timelines to enhance AI performance and Siri integration. The display-free glasses, positioned as a mainstream accessory, will feature cameras, microphones, speakers and four frame styles priced between $200 and $500.
Apple has delayed its smart glasses project to late 2027, citing the need to refine visual AI performance and ensure seamless Siri integration. The device, internally known as N50, will rely heavily on iPhone connectivity rather than operating as a standalone platform.
The first-generation glasses will be display-free, using integrated cameras, microphones and speakers for photo and video capture, phone calls, music playback and voice-controlled assistance. Turn-by-turn walking directions and deep integration with Apple Intelligence aim to position the product as a mainstream consumer accessory.
Apple is testing at least four frame styles, including Wayfarer-style rectangles and round options, with color variants like black, light brown and blue. The company is targeting a retail price between $200 and $500 to appeal broadly across the eyewear market without advanced augmented reality capabilities in the initial release.
