Apple will have limited iPhone Duo units available in stores on Friday
AAPL•Apple said limited numbers of its folding iPhone Duo will be available for walk-in customers on Friday, after online orders sold out in minutes and some delivery estimates moved to January.
1. Limited store availability
Apple said limited numbers of the iPhone Duo will be available for walk-in customers when the folding phone launches Friday. Initial online orders sold out in minutes, pushing delivery estimates for some customers to January.
2. Availability by region
Walk-in availability will vary by country. Online order pickup and limited walk-in purchases will be available in the United States, Australia, Canada, Mexico and much of the UK and Europe; in other listed regions, units will be available only to customers who already ordered online. Macau will have limited inventory for walk-in customers.
3. Manufacturing complexity
Analysts expect the iPhone Duo to quickly dominate a niche segment where Samsung Electronics and Huawei Technologies have sold premium offerings for years. The phone's tight-fitting hinge makes it more complex to manufacture than standard iPhones, and analysts believe Apple may need time to produce it in high volumes.
