Apple will have limited iPhone Duo units available in stores on Friday
AAPL•Apple said limited numbers of its folding iPhone Duo will be available for walk-in customers when it launches Friday, after initial online orders sold out in minutes and some delivery estimates moved to January.
1. Limited launch inventory
Apple said limited numbers of the iPhone Duo will be available for walk-in customers at stores when the folding phone launches Friday. Initial online orders sold out in minutes, pushing delivery times for some customers to January.
2. Availability varies by region
Online order pickup and limited walk-in purchases will be available in the United States, Australia, Canada, Mexico and much of the UK and Europe. In mainland China, France, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the UAE, units will be available only to customers who already bought online. Macau will have limited inventory for walk-in customers.
3. Manufacturing complexity
Analysts expect the iPhone Duo to quickly dominate the niche folding-phone segment, where Samsung Electronics and Huawei Technologies have sold premium offerings for years. Analysts believe the phone’s tight-fitting hinge may take time for Apple to manufacture in high volumes.
