AERG•Applied Energetics validated a next-generation ultrashort-pulse laser architecture with higher power output, sharper beam quality and longer-range energy delivery, and has started construction on two prototypes.

Applied Energetics said the architecture’s performance gains target extended-range counter-drone missions against Group 1 and Group 2 threats. Construction has started on two prototypes: an extended-range counter-drone system and a backpackable system for select missions; the company plans continued testing and iterative validation.
