Aptera Motors Targets 1 Million Deliveries in 10 Years, 350 MPG Vehicle Draws 50,000 Preorders
Aptera Motors plans to produce its solar-powered Atlas 1 at its Carlsbad, California plant and aims to deliver 1 million vehicles within 10 years, versus Tesla’s 13-year timeline. The two-seat Atlas 1 boasts 350 MPG equivalent efficiency, solar charging capability, 50,000 preorders and simplified vinyl-based production.
1. Ambitious Delivery Targets
Aptera Motors co-founder aims to deliver 1 million Atlas 1 vehicles over the next 10 years, surpassing Tesla’s 13-year pace to reach the same milestone. This target underscores the company’s aggressive growth strategy as it scales from startup to volume producer.
2. Atlas 1 Efficiency and Production
The Atlas 1 is engineered for ultra-efficiency, achieving 350 miles per gallon equivalent through combined lightweight design and integrated solar panels. Production simplicity is achieved by leaving the vehicle body unpainted and applying vinyl decals, reducing process complexity and time.
3. Orders and Financing
Aptera holds 50,000 preorder reservations for its first model and has a market capitalization of approximately $83 million since its Nasdaq debut last October. The company plans to secure additional capital in the coming months and push into manufacturing by the end of the year at its Carlsbad facility.
