Aramco, Pasqal Launch 200-Qubit QCaaS Platform at Dhahran Center
Aramco inaugurated Saudi Arabia’s first quantum computer at the Dhahran data center and launched the Middle East’s first QCaaS platform powered by Pasqal’s 200-qubit neutral-atom QPU. Aramco will develop use cases for port logistics, CO2 storage, well placement and rig scheduling after investing in Pasqal through Wa’ed Ventures in 2023.
1. Quantum Platform Inauguration
Aramco and Pasqal inaugurated Saudi Arabia’s first quantum computer at Aramco’s Dhahran data center and simultaneously launched the region’s first commercial QCaaS platform, enabling secure cloud-based quantum access for external institutions and enterprises.
2. Neutral-Atom QPU Technology
The newly deployed system uses Pasqal’s neutral-atom Quantum Processing Unit controlling 200 programmable qubits, designed to integrate with classical computing for hybrid quantum solutions.
3. Strategic Industrial Use Cases
Under the partnership, Aramco will pilot high-impact applications such as port logistics optimization, CO2 storage enhancement, well placement strategy and rig scheduling to accelerate energy and materials innovation.
4. Broader High-Performance Computing Initiatives
Earlier this month, Aramco announced a separate $372.5 million project with Solutions by STC to deliver a next-generation supercomputer boasting seven times current computational capacity for seismic interpretation and reservoir modeling.
