ArcBest delivered $998.8 million in first-quarter revenue, a 3.3% increase from the prior-year period, but recorded a net loss of $1.04 million compared with a $3.13 million profit in Q1 2025.

2. Segment Performance

The asset-based division grew revenue 1.4% to $655 million with shipments per day up 1.8% and billed revenue per shipment up 0.6%, yet operating income fell 33.7% to $17.5 million. The asset-light segment saw a 6.1% revenue gain to $377.7 million with shipments per day up 9.8%, turning operating income positive at $200,000 versus a prior loss.

3. Operational Initiatives and Cost Savings

Efficiency measures, including AI-enabled route optimization and continuous improvement training, generated $47 million in annualized cost savings. Enhanced yield management, record employee productivity, and selective load reductions supported the asset-light segment’s move to profitability.
