Asked about Fed decision, Trump says US should have the lowest rate in the world
SPY•Trump comments on Fed decision ahead of policy meeting
DOONBEG, Ireland, Sept. 13 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the United States should be paying the lowest interest rate in the world ahead of the Federal Reserve's policy meeting this week.
Asked if he expected the Fed to hike rates on Wednesday, Trump told reporters at the Irish Open golf championship that he didn't know but added, "we should be paying the lowest interest rate in the world, regardless of their formulas."
Trump added that the United States had "the best credit in the world. We make other countries rich. We can turn that off in two minutes."
