Assembly Bio reports positive Phase 1a safety, target engagement data for ABI-6250 NTCP inhibitor
ASMB•Assembly Biosciences reported positive Phase 1a safety and target engagement data for ABI-6250, an oral NTCP inhibitor. The company plans to start Phase 2 development for chronic hepatitis delta virus infection in Q4 2026 and a separate Phase 2 program in cholestatic liver diseases in Q1 2027.
1. Phase 1a findings
ABI-6250 was well tolerated in healthy participants, with no serious adverse events reported. Pharmacodynamic findings indicated target engagement, and Assembly plans to present the data in two posters at the AASLD Liver Meeting on November 7, 2026.
2. Planned Phase 2 studies
Assembly plans to begin Phase 2 development of ABI-6250 for chronic hepatitis delta virus infection in Q4 2026, followed by a separate Phase 2 program in cholestatic liver diseases in Q1 2027.
