1. Savings and pipeline investment
AstraZeneca unveiled a three-year plan to save about $1.5 billion annually and reinvest the savings mainly in its pipeline of more than 180 projects. It expects up to $2 billion in one-time restructuring charges. Executives said some departments face cutbacks or restructuring while others will re-skill and hire; the company expects net job growth across different areas.
2. Quarterly results beat forecasts
Third-quarter core earnings were $2.79 per share as revenue rose 7% at constant exchange rates to $16.21 billion, above analysts’ forecasts of $2.59 per share and $15.94 billion. Oncology revenue increased 17% to $7.77 billion, including a 35% rise in Enhertu sales to $969 million and a 26% increase in Imfinzi sales to about $2 billion.
