AT&T, BlackRock’s GIP and CPP Investments form U.S. wholesale fiber joint venture
T•AT&T agreed to form a U.S. wholesale fiber joint venture with Global Infrastructure Partners, a BlackRock unit, and CPP Investments. AT&T will own 50%, with GIP and CPP Investments holding the remaining 50% collectively; the deal is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
1. Joint venture plans
The venture will combine Forged Fiber 37, built from assets acquired from Lumen, with Gigapower, AT&T’s existing wholesale fiber joint venture with GIP. The deal targets expansion to more than 60 million fiber locations by the end of 2030, and AT&T expects cash proceeds at closing. Completion is subject to regulatory approvals.
